For beginning students, I introduce musical theatre and classical repertoire and the fundamentals of music theory. As the student progresses, I include advanced exercises used to strengthen the voice and have them learn various styles of singing based on their interests and career path. Students are expected to vocalize every day on their own and complete any homework or songs before assigned dates. My primary instrument is voice, and I am passionate about guiding growing singers in finding their voice, developing healthy vocal technique, learning helpful music theory, and fostering a love of music! for VOICE Students: I usually associate singing the song with some kind of activity, usually passing a bouncy ball to the beat, or throwing it back and forth. From there, we progress to tapping the beat or the rhythm while singing. Then well combine the two: student claps the rhythm while I tap the beat, and vice versa. I want my students to be able to clearly distinguish these two elements, and to be able to feel and maintain a steady beat which will set them up with a strong foundation for playing more advanced music. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More
