I'm a passionate instructor that focuses on each individual's goals needed to further their love for music or to be audition ready at all times. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. I believe my students will learn at their highest potential by personalizing each lesson around what they need. For example: if a student is interested in auditioning for College or specific ensembles or groups, I will incorporate the audition requirements into the lesson so they feel adequately prepared when they walk into their audition. Voice: In voice lessons we do not use books which allows me to fully customize lessons to the individual students needs and wants. I teach different methods of breathing, including low costal breathing and we focus on posture, sound placement, among many other fun skills. I taught private guitar lessons continuously, while in highschool and college. In between engagements in my performing career, I would always return to teaching. In 1992 I was certified by Dr. L Scott Martin, Phd from Juilliard, to teach vocal performance at his Academy of the Arts in Denver, and I have continued to the present, to coach young singers to express themselves with music. Some students will pick up a technique or a piece of music in one week, while another might struggle with the same piece for a whole month, and that's okay! Everybody's experience with music is different and not everybody will pick things up as quickly as others so you must meet them where they are. Music is nerve-racking at first because expressing ourselves isn't something that is always encouraged so I look for something they are interested in to start off.
