I was amazed at how fulfilling it was to share my knowledge and love of singing with my students. I always start with applicable musical theory to help the student understand the basics of piano and what are the proper techniques to play the instrument. The same applies to voice lessons. After a student is able to read music on the basic level and knows the placement of notes on the scale, we proceed to the basic repertoire and practice. Each student is individual, so based on the pace I create a schedule, which always includes implementing the learnt material more and more, so that student can perform basics automatically correct. For young students, I would usually start them off using Bastien Piano Basics. It's very digestible, and gives a good starting-off point for both technical playing, and larger musical concepts as a whole. With a student who is older or perhaps more advanced, who has a solid grasp on technical proficiency and music theory, I would typically recommend studying specific pieces, starting with Classical, and eventually moving into Jazz. I feel that following a chronological study of music is one of the best ways to become a well-rounded, versatile player who feels comfortable approaching any material. Read More

Guitar Teacher at Afterschool Enrichment Solutions - October 2017 to March 2020 Taught guitar, chess, coding, and engineering after school classes at several schools in San Diego. This included Kavod Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, San Diego Jewish Academy, St. Paul’s Lutheran School, and Jonas Salk Elementary. • Curriculum for guitar included method book learning from Hal Leonard, as well as beginner songs for kids. • Curriculum for chess involved teaching the moves for each piece, beginner practice games only using a few pieces, and eventually full chess matches. • Curriculum for coding involved using a beginner level coding system to teach students the basics of how computer programs work. • Curriculum for engineering involved building small robots and having those robots perform simple tasks.
