I typically start the students off with open strings and rhythms and we learn the left hand separately so that the start is not overwhelming. With an intermediate to more advanced students we progress to scales (Jhnke, Galamian, Flesh etc...), etudes and exercises (Shradieck, Kayser, Mazas, Kreutzer, Wieniawski, Paganini etc...), as well as performing pieces (this often includes Bach and Mozart in every student's repertoire). For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Paganini's 4th Violin Concerto with cadenza which Oleg Rutkovsky composed especially for this event. After competition he was invited to participate in music festival in Rimini, Italy where he shared the stage with such famous musicians as Boris Berezovsky (1st Prize 1990 P.I.Tchaikovsky Piano Competition), Enrico Pace and Evgeny Bushkov (both winners of many international competitions). After one year with State Symphony Capella of Russia where conductor was legendary Gennady Rozhdestvensky and where Oleg performed in section 1st Violins in 1992 he accepted position of Assistant concertmaster of famous Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra and traveled around the globe performing in almost every important music hall including Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, Royal Albert and Barbican Hall in London, Beethoven Hall in Bonn (Germany), Gewandhaus, Symphony Hall and Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Osaka (Japan), Musikverein Golden Hall  in Vienna and many more. This book introduces the student to the instrument in the most practical way while making it fun, and it has the student reading music from the beginning, which I find very important. After this, we go on to Suzuki book 2 and a scale book. Then we move our way through the Suzuki books and start to incorporate more complex scales and etudes. Read More
