My way of working the voice in particular is a combination of yoga breathing techniques, the Alexander singing method and the Stanilavsky method of acting. This to achieve a better awareness of the vibration and awareness of the vocal instrument. For beginning students (regardless of age instrument) I try to simplify the approach and work on a set of warm ups/exercises coupled with a performance piece or song that they can feel good about and lots of fun listening assignments. From there I have a few options of instruction methods that I tailor to the individual student.
