Preschool students: I use everything in my hands to help them to love music and enjoy it. We dance, we jump, sometimes we color ... anything that helps them learn. My class basically consists in developing in the little ones curiosity and musical taste. Through musical games and songs, the students will understand the basics of music theory, tone and rhythm. I was always able to sing. I started piano in the 5th grade. I played trumpet in high school and made all state band 3 years in a row. I attended college at Houston Baptist University where I received a full scholarship to study music. Once I graduated I was immediately hired to do a national tour which was followed by 5 others. I grew up around music, so it is a huge part of my life. I have been playing the drums, piano, and organ for over 20 years, and singing even longer and teaching/coaching/instructing for 10 years. For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance. Read More
