I have been teaching for over three years now. I started teaching friends and family members in my home. My key points are musical technique and consistent practice. I try to teach music as a form of language, much like Victor Wooten teaches. The most important thing is keeping things interesting for both me and the student, while still preparing them for school performances and recitals. I am always excited to teach my students, as well as help them succeed in any endeavor they choose. Read More

I Have been playing the guitar for 15 years and have been teaching for 10 years. From 2005 - 2008 I studied Guitar Performance and Music Theory at The Musicians Institute of Hollywood, CA. Over the years I have played and recorded with several bands including Slow Motion Rider, Ecstatic Union, Micah Brown Band and other small projects. In addition to playing with others, I have composed and recorded several of my own songs, playing all the instruments needed (Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Organ, Piano, Banjo, Ukulele, Hamonica, Auto Harp, other Percusssion, ect...). I use Berklee, Van Eps, custom-written material, and I also teach composition, theory, film scoring. My teaching approach: I possess a thorough knowledge of the instrument. Focus on proper technique for all students, regardless of his/her playing ability. Once proper technique is established, I utilize the Berklee Series as a basis for instruction. These volumes are supplemented by exercises, which I write specifically for the particular student’s needs. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements (or the Hal Leonard Guitar Method for guitar students) to build a strong foundation in reading music, proper technique, tone production, and fundamental skills. Once students have a solid grasp of the basics, I introduce age-appropriate solo repertoire to develop confidence and prepare them for their first recital performance. For adult learners, I tailor each lesson to their personal goals and musical interestswhether they are brand-new beginners, returning to music, or exploring a specific style. Read More

Over the years I had musical mentors share knowledge with me, so it is so rewarding to share knowledge with students. I love it when students get "light bulbs", or "a-ha" moments. Because I tailor lessons to the students' individual goals, I love to show them things that are practical and help them achieve those goals. My teaching style is very personal and conversational, as opposed to formal and "classroom-like". Read More

I don't not use practice/lesson books. Unless the student wants to use it , I don't insist. I approach each student differently . I take it at their speed. I structure everything on what each student wants for themselves. Through lesson I also add new way to help, or advance them to or above their goals. Read More
