I've been teaching for over 10 years full time. But I've been involved with teaching and leading musical groups and bands for nearly 25 years. I have thought kids from 3 years of age to teens to young adults to elders over 80 years old. I have over ten years of experience teaching in the private sector as a music instructor. I have plenty of experience working one-on-one with students with zero musical knowledge to prodigies. Read More

I enjoy helping students to feel at ease, and to feel confident about their personal growth! I offer challenges to each student at their particular level, and encourage them to pursue performance opportunities, if desired. I enjoy working students with different musical styles and genre to give them a broad perspective on music. I have also employed a small reward system for those students who demonstrate bigger challenges :) Ultimately, I want my students to feel comfortable, challenged, and encouraged in my presence. Music should be fun. Plain and simple thats why I believe and that is whats kept me pushing forward. Its not going to always be an easy experience learning new things but that does not mean it cannot be fun. I want my students to feel like they are more than enough to play this song or sing that song. I want my students to believe in themselves as much as I believe in them. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I try to have as much fun as possible while still maintaining a high expectiation of performance. I am, by trade and training, a comedian, so jokes and laughter abound. Most of my students might say I'm not as funny as I think I am, but we still have fun! I am, however a stickler for learning the basics of music theory and correct use of vocabulary. Students won't move on to the next level until I know they have a firm grasp of prior concepts. Read More

For beginning students, I introduce musical theatre and classical repertoire and the fundamentals of music theory. As the student progresses, I include advanced exercises used to strengthen the voice and have them learn various styles of singing based on their interests and career path. Students are expected to vocalize every day on their own and complete any homework or songs before assigned dates. For students interested, I will also enter them into competitions and auditions where they can expand their performance experience. Read More

I have been teaching Guitar for over ten years, starting as a teenager teaching neighborhood kids. I learned a lot from being in over my head, and it taught me the value of communicating clearly with my students. Since then, my love of teaching has grown. Ive taught for after school programs and group classes with adults, but my favorite is one one one lessons where I can tailor lessons to what my students are passionate about. Read More
