My music teaching experience begins with brass, both teaching private trumpet lessons, and assisting with various youth ensembles including the MusicAlliance Honor Band and several high school marching band ensembles. While I continue those engagements, my primary passion lies in directing choir, both youth and adult, as well teaching private voice lessons as I myself continue to study both areas. I am currently a graduate student studying Musicology at Rutgers University. My musical journey has been continuous ever since singing for the first time in my home church's youth choir. Studying piano and viola, performing on stage in musicals, and participating in choir invariably throughout grade school, I was finally lead to study classical music at Susquehanna University. Both in high school and at college, I was an active participant in many vocal genres, including jazz, a capella groups, barbershop quartets, musical theater, classical art song, and a touch of popular music. If a student already has purchased piano books or has piano books from an older sibling, I would not ask the student to purchase more books until we had used what they already had to its full capacity. For adults and older beginners (piano and voice), I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
