We always spend time at the end singing something they want to sing, it's important to not feel pressured into music. During the first lesson I have the student sing (if it is a vocal lesson) their favorite song so I can hear them. After that i use my keyboard and take the student through some excersizes to really home in on that range. I listen for qualities and we discuss the positives and what improvements are needed. Music making and teaching has been my passion since I was young. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education. As a child, I participated in choir for 8 years and was in the University of Michigan's University Choir and Orpheus Singers. I have had a passion since I was 6 years old for music, I recieved B.S in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Central Michigan University and an Associates in Dance from University of Michigan. During which times I also performed with Flint Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Michigan Symphony, and the Symphony Orchestra of Leon. I like to give fun, free feeling lessons. While I go into each lesson with a goal in mind, I enjoy going on brief tangents for life lessons, performance tips, or applicable and funny stories. My goal is to give my students the ability to self assess. They should be able to feel when they are singing correctly, without me always pointing it out. They learn these skills through scales, basic anatomy and physiology, physical exercises, visualization etc. I am kind, patient, supportive, and always do my best to uplift my students.
