I began teaching trombone and improvisation when I was a junior in High School. Currently I am adept in Singing, Music Theory, Trombone, Bass (-classical) and Electronic Music, but I also practice Flute, Piano, Guitar,Percussion (congas) and Tap Dancing. I have been told that I have a very unconventional teaching style, but I prefer to call it simplicity. Patience is a virtue that I cherish, but I am also very persistent in teaching the ultimate realization to my student. Read More

We set goals based on aspirations and ability. That said, my lessons are structured, but flexible, rigorous, but fun. I encourage regular practice times, include practice plans, and talk with students about how to practice. Frequently, students determine the flow of the lessons - what we emphasize or de-emphasize. We also talk quite a bit about what the student finds interesting. Whenever possible, I use this to fine-tune my teaching to keep student progress steady and satisfying. Read More

Currently pursuing my artistic aspirations at the esteemed Manhattan School of Music, I find myself under the guidance of the remarkable Mignon Dunn. My focus is on classical vocal performance, and I'm also delving into the creative realms of contemporary composition, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. My commitment to musical excellence goes beyond the spotlight. I actively collaborate with local music producers and DJs, aiming to bring a fresh perspective to the rich tapestry of music. Read More

I first and foremost love meeting new people and helping them to enjoy music. My background is in opera and musical theatre, but I have been playing piano for twenty-six years and also teach ukulele and flute. I have been studying music for twenty-six years, including Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in classical vocal performance. It was there where I learned to sing in seven languages. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I am a big believer in the breath. For a beginner I do a lot of exercises with breath connection to encourage healthy, connected singing. I like the idea that the voice dances on the breath and is buoyed and protected by that technique. I am also a very physical teacher, encouraging students to use their whole body in the act of singing. The voice is carried by the whole body and not just the muscles that are the vocal chords. Instruments: Piano Voice Violin
Voice methodology is to learn how to make the correct sound on the flow of breath. One must learn how to breathe whether singing loudly or softly in whichever style or genre the student wants to learn. String playing can be hard on the ears when beginning, therefore it is important to develop a good bow technique in order to make the best sound possible. I use the All For Strings method books. Although my experience working with students goes back to high school, I began teaching at professional studios while completing my BA in Music. I also taught private lessons out of my own studio and even gave some pro bono lessons so I could put what I was learning at university into action. I started teaching Disney and Pop music to kids and teens and decided to expand my teaching to anything a student has to offer in Vocal Performance. Read More
