In the first lesson, I listen very carefully to what the student wants to achieve and how they feel about the way they sing. Then, I begin my strategy of how to devise a skills building foundation based on their needs. After a few exercises, I can understand how quickly they can adapt and try new techniques. This has given my students great success. I have found that once they connect to their breath, they connect to themselves and their vocal mechanisms more effectively. After the breathing exercises, I work on vocal technical exercises for the first half of the lesson. During this time, I teach my students about vocal health, vocal agility, pitch, vocal strength, expanding their ranges, and much more.
