I have always had a natural affinity for the musical arts since I could remember; beginning at age 3, I began tinkering with the keyboard, and since then I have expanded my repertoire to encompass over 20 musical instruments with the aid of friends, family, teachers, and the resources they have offered me. I believe in creating engaging lessons that students will enjoy but also learn a great deal from. For beginner students, I show them some fun ways of working on their breathing techniques, then I sing short melodies to them and ask them to sing them back to me, then I let them sing a little melody to me and I sing it back to them. I have a tried and true set of vocal building exercises (also known as "warmups") that I use with all of my students. These exercises help to strengthen students middle voices, extend their ranges, increase their agility, and increase their stamina. I combine these exercises with carefully assigned repertoire to promote growth and functional freedom. I love to have my students sing in many different genres because our voices are muscles, and I believe that they should be cross-trained so one can be as versatile and flexible as possible. Read More
