Using the techniques modeled from the International Voices of Mix, an assessment is taking on the syllable Ahh, on either a 5 tone scale or 8 tone. This is done to listen for various breaks in voice. Once this is discovered different different vocal exercises are then orchestrated to begin the process of strengthening the less stronger parts of the voice. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. As a child, I was endlessly inspired by my piano teacher. She was quirky and unconventional, never wanting music to feel like a "chore." When I would get frustrated with myself, she'd throw up her hands and exclaim, "let's take a break and jam!"
