Tailoring my lessons to the individuals musical aptitude and level of interest has contributed to my long-term success as a music teacher. By tailoring my lessons to the individual, Im better able to facilitate an atmosphere where students come to enjoy their educational experience to help build an effective program that meets their personal ambitions. Over the years Ive learned when ambition is paired with application, the resulting outcome can be very fulfilling. Read More

I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. Motivation, "keeping it real", and an upbeat attitude have continued to yield personal and academic results in my studio. Read More

For begining students who are under the age of thirteen, I prefer to start with Bastien's Piano Basics. This series comes with four different books (Technic, Piano, Performance, and Theory) that give the student a well rounded lesson. For students over the age of thirteen, I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Course. This series has a more mature song selection, a variety of genres, includes music theory, and has piano excercises. I recommend that anyone starting to learn music begins at the age of ten simply because of finger strength and focus. I also try to ensure that they practice at a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes a day between lessons to help them reach their full potential. I stand by the "practice makes perfect" saying wholeheartedly. I give small amounts of homework after every lesson and try to create a fun environment for learning that is stress-free. Read More

Thus, she has experience teaching all ages and skill levels. Her students have ranged from beginners to university music majors, from age 3 to age 72. Read More

For piano, I like the Piano Adventures Method by Faber but have also used Alfred and Bastien. I am very focused on a relaxed and precise technique, including proper rotation, articulation, flexibility, and strength, as well as teaching the ability to play without looking at the keys. For voice, I work to build a solid technique based on individual need and interest and choose songs accordingly. Proper breathing and body awareness, utilizing Alexander and Feldenkrais methods, as well as understanding of vowel and consonant articulation and of the intimate relationship between text and music is also essential. Learning to sing is a rewarding and worthwhile endeavor and I approach my students individualistically. I assign my student vocal exercises and repertoire and provide clear and thorough instruction to keep lessons fun and engaging! I challenge my students to practice and perfect the assigned homework and songs so that we may keep improving every week. Through the years, I have built a vocal technique from the ground up which has allowed me to teach and guide students in their own journey in singing. Read More
