I have over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages from beginner to advanced. I started piano lessons at age 5 and voice lessons at age 14 and continued through college at Smith College, studying with Monica Jakuc and Kenneth Fearn for piano and Jane Bryden for voice. I have always aspired to be a versatile drummer. Growing up I idolized drummers like Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan, Dennis Chambers, and many of the jazz and latin greats. I learned how to play many styles of music along the way including: jazz, soul, funk, rock, pop, blues, salsa, samba, candombe, afro-beat, reggae, symphonic percussion, and the avante garde. I have been teaching violin privately for 8 years, have my master's degree in violin performance. As a graduate assistant, I taught undergraduate applied violin (lessons), as well as Upper String Methods and other classes as needed. I always encourage and emphasize regular and consistent practice to my students, as it is something I find that truly helps a student gain passion for the instrument.
