My style is very interactive in not teaching the students, but demonstrating what are the proper ways to approach different praticing techniques and repertoire selections. With my vocal lessons I have students do proper warm-up techniques and various scales before we begin working on vocal selections.  Afterwards I use repetition with the repertoire in order to help the students with skills that are needed to perform any particular piece including intonation, diction, and breathing. In 2012, I graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan, with a Minor in French and Francophone Studies. In my career, I frequently perform in Opera, Musical Theater, Jazz, and Dance, believing that a strong technique and performance principles can carry through genres. I did a 4 year degree course at The University Of Hertfordshire in Musical Theater and went on to be a hit songwriter. In the 90's I was signed by Simon Cowell to his record company in London. I like to make my lessons engaging and fun. For students who are beginning their guitar journey, I like to start with the basic fundamentals of guitar, such as teaching them the body of the guitar (head stock, tuning pegs, string names, frets, how to hold and use a pick, etc.). We then will go on to learning how to position their fingers on the guitar neck and frets to play notes, learn chords and eventually, once they are ready, we will start working on age appropriate songs for the students to learn. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and I also give them homework to practice. I got a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam, and have an overview of theoretical and performance education in contemporary, classical, and jazz idioms.
