I taught privately for the past 25 years, teaching those grade levels and then began teaching senior citizens almost 10 years ago. I find this method helps the student with dependency of string books and helps to harbor curiosity to the vast world of music and methods beyond one book. I am very old school, meaning I expect them to memorize lyrics and lines, and understand what they are saying and why. I approach teaching as a teacher who still performs,and learned by doing it.
