I have several methods, but mostly I teach to sing based on solfeage and songs, either italian, german, latin, spanish, and french. Solfeage helps the student to understand better sheet music and also helps understand the real emotion of the piece, among other things involved in a piece. I have been in the top auditioned ensemble of NMSU for all 4 years and section leader for 2. I have spent my entire life working the arts.  In high school I was a member of choir, band, theatre and jazz band. During my Air Force Years I attended the University of Maryland with my primary focus on musical theatre. Traveling the world and working with multiple theatre organizations has been an expirence that few can say they have done. Music relates the humanity of an individual, so a teacher needs to create connections between the music being studied and the student doing the studying. Learning music takes a high degree of patience and repetition, and it is the teacher's job to balance holding the student to a high standard and making music fun. Whether beginner or a bit more advanced, I have always liked to return to the basic foundational knowledge and techniques that must be understood well in order to advance and have a good sound and a good technique. For beginners in piano, I like to find books that the individual feels comfortable with and that they completely understand what they are getting themselves into. Every person is different. For snare drum, I like to use a book called stick control which helps students develop mastery in the way they play from precision to striking the snare drum correctly and the way they overall develop their style of playing. I have been teaching for over ten years. I started out with just a handful of students, and have since grown to have a student base of over forty students. I have taught all ages and all levels. I have seen many beginning students become advanced students over a period of years.
