I have a microphone and amplification system and would be able to teach students to sing with a microphone for live performances. I have been studying classical piano for almost 20 years. I have also played jazz piano for over ten years. Additionally, I have been playing flute for 12 years. I am currently accepting beginner to intermediate adult piano students. I am a big believer in the breath. For a beginner I do a lot of exercises with breath connection to encourage healthy, connected singing. I like the idea that the voice dances on the breath and is buoyed and protected by that technique. I am also a very physical teacher, encouraging students to use their whole body in the act of singing. The voice is carried by the whole body and not just the muscles that are the vocal chords. I encourage parents to teach their children music from young age. Most of my students are kids from age 5-13, level starting from novice to intermediate. I have been practicing tutoring piano for 5 years and voice for 3 years. My teaching style not only includes standard piano playing skills, but also sheet music reading, musical hearing, and proper playing techniques. In regards to voice lessons, I am strongly convinced that knowing musical theory basics significantly improves understanding of vocal basics. Read More

Born and raised in Alaska, I have been teaching kids, teens, and adults music and theatre since I was in highschool. I began my training at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, finishing my degree at Western Connecticut State University with a Minor in Theatre Arts in 2013.
