As someone with diverse training with multiple instruments and styles, I am very determined to teaching my students and having them become the best they can be at their instrument. I am firm, but patient and understand that practicing the right way is more important than practicing frequently. I am able to work as slow or fast as a student needs; it all depends on their comfortable pace. I only teach Intermediate and Advanced students, and my method really depends on the particular student. I don't believe in a single, "core curriculum" for piano-playing. It really depends on the students' goals, strengths/weaknesses, etc. For my beginning intermediate students, I usually give a selection of little pieces to learn by Bach, Schubert, and Schumann to start developing their ear and sense of rhythm/musicality. I usually use the Faber, Beyer, or Czerny depend on the student's level. I'd add Hanon, bach 2,3 part invention, Sonatina album, and the list can go on. For Jazz, all I need is manuscript paper and a Jazz Real Book (I'd hand out some exercise notes). For advanced students, I want them to listen to music a lot.
