My passion for singing dates back to when I was a child, singing in choirs and performing in churches. In 2011, I graduated from the Greatbach School of Music at Houghton College, earning a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with honors. I have been blessed to perform in several regional theatre productions, as well as two off-Broadway shows. I have brought my love of coaching and teaching to these productions. I ask my students which genre they like the most. Then I ask them which artist they admire and what they want to achieve in music. Once I know how passionate and committed my student is I set realistic goals and create the lesson. For every student I have a notice book so that I can write down what we did in each lesson and to see how they are growing and developing. Read More

After my own experience with it as well as teaching it, Suzuki has great techniques and music for getting students experience in sight-reading, ear training, and memorization. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes. Acronyms and games are always the best way to memorize the different rules. I write out detailed lessons plans for each individual student, constructed specifically for their learning process.
