I am a passionate teacher who loves working music students of all ages! I recently graduated from the Mannes School of Music in New York City with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, studying with Rebecca Fischer. I grew up in Northern Virginia and started the violin and piano when I was 3 years old. Since moving to New York, I have had the privilege to perform at Carnegie Hall with the Grammy Award Winning New York Youth Symphony, and Lincoln Center with the Mannes Orchestra, holding Concertmaster positions with both ensembles. Music is a powerful gift that should be shared with everyone. As an educator my mission is to develop a life long love for music and the capability to expresses themselves with it so they can connect with others around the world. As well as to use the process of learning music and the skills that come from it in other aspects of their lives. Music has always been a passion of mine since I was a young child. Read More

For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers To Play."  Once the student has progressed and becomes more familiar with reading the notes in both clefs, I will begin to introduce solo pieces of music that the child picks out of the choices I present to them.  I do this to help encourage and reward the child with their success.  For adult piano students, I find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. Instruments: Violin Viola

I first discovered my love of teaching in college, more than 10 years ago. Since then, I have made it my mission to make learning informative, engaging, and fun. It is important to encourage regular and consistent practice time during the week in between lessons so we can use our lesson time most productively and make your learning experience more enjoyable. My students are encouraged to participate in recitals and competitions to give them a goal to work towards, help keep them motivated, and give them a way to measure their progress and accomplishments.  Read More

I typically start the students off with open strings and rhythms and we learn the left hand separately so that the start is not overwhelming. With an intermediate to more advanced students we progress to scales (Jhnke, Galamian, Flesh etc...), etudes and exercises (Shradieck, Kayser, Mazas, Kreutzer, Wieniawski, Paganini etc...), as well as performing pieces (this often includes Bach and Mozart in every student's repertoire). I very much encourage all of my students to record themselves a few times a week, perform as much as possible (even for the family pet), play competitions and play with others! Read More

5 Reasons Why You Should Take Summer Music Lessons

...is the right time for practicing   At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what season you decide to take up music lessons as long as you’re taking the time and energy to develop basic skills on your instrument. Summer music lessons are ideal because of the long days and extra free time, but summer only lasts for a few short months. I recommend getting into a routine of practicing at least three times a week if you’re trying to learn a new instrument. Music lessons will only be effective if you take the time to develop your... ...collaboration and trial and error, the three leaders of the project arrived at the following program for Fantasia:   Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach: In Leopold Stokowski’s words to Disney, “The Toccata starts off with three phrases which are like the playing of immense trumpets to call you to attention. For that reason, this composition is a wonderful selection with which to begin your picture.” Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: The programmatic nature of Tchaikovsky’s holiday season masterpiece provided a perfect way to feature classical music in cartoons. In addition to quick string crossings, this next level of cello repertoire will include both slurs and hooked bowings. Students will also start to see accidentals (non-diatonic pitches) and dotted rhythms in their music. ...are going to burn through money and time until you’re frustrated and overwhelmed. Although the process of recording a demo at home is incredibly time consuming, it can be among the most fun experiences of being a musician so long as you go into it with adequate preparation.         Know exactly what you’re going to record and how I’ve wasted countless hours trying to decide whether I should be recording one song or another.
