I like to begin the first lesson by recognizing the students strengths by having them show me what they can accomplish on their own. There are specific books that I like to teach out of depending on the skill level so that needs to be addressed during the first lesson. Recognizing and building on strengths to me should come before criticising weaknesses. Those will be addressed as they come along and exercises with scales and etudes will be chosen for those weaknesses, but that does not mean that challenging music needs to be played each and every time so that the student has to struggle for greatness. As a senior in highschool, I was offered to teach beginning violin lessons at the homeschool co-op I was attending. Besides teaching the basics of the violin and beginner level music-playing, I gained experience in practicing efficient time management, lesson planning, and working with varying instruction approaches due to the age ranges of my students. The summer following my senior year, I greatly enjoyed being a camp leader for the Anderson University Summer String Camp. Read More

I teach the basics first. I show my student how to hold the bow and the violin in detail. I explain that it will be awkward to hold the bow in correct position because it is unusual for person to hold the right hand that way. After several days of practice, this bow hold will become more natural to the student. Holding the violin in the proper position is also important in order to be able to play music. Read More

In the first class I like to know if the student has any knowledge in music and what made them want to learn the instrument. If they have some knowledge I like to see what they know so I can determine an appropriate path base on what they already know. If the student has no knowledge I start with the basics like recognizing the instrument's parts, the name of the notes, the name of the instrument's strings. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2019, I graduated from Cornell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and Kinesiology Exercise-Science. Performing in different states and islands has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play on the same stage as Chaka Khan, learning from instructors Itzhak Perlman and the Catalyst Quartet. Some highlights of my teaching career include working with A Gift for Music to give Title 1 schools access to the fine arts, being a cabin counselor and cello instructor for young musicians at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and providing private lessons at The Orlando School of Music. All these experiences created a burning desire for higher fine arts education, culminating in my part in the co-creation of the Central Florida Cello Association, an organization which provides the UCF cello studio with multiple masterclasses a year given by world class artists and acclaimed educators. Out of all of the things in the world, nothing is more amazing, then when I witness my students develop a true passion for music. Music comes from within. When you play something you love, it is no longer the black notes and lines on the page, but becomes so much more when it comes from your heart. When I see a student accomplish a goal they set for themselves, it makes me feel so wonderful to witness them accomplish their goal. Read More
