I typically use Sound Innovations for Strings for beginning students, and start supplementing with different repertoire as we get further into lessons. We focus on establishing foundations and building a repertoire which the student truly enjoys. I provide individualized instruction with a theoretical focus. I want students to understand the music that they play. I view music as a language and believe in the importance of being able to manipulate it to convey a message to the listener. I allow students to choose the songs they learn and couple them with technical exercises to improve dexterity and familiarity with the instrument.
