I like to keep my teaching style a balance between being strict but also patient when needed and keeping it fun! I like to have open communication with the student or parents of the student to figure out what kind of teaching style they might prefer. If you want to be challenged and pushed, I can provide more strict instruction to make sure your goals are being met. If a student or their parents prefer to take it easy and just have a good time learning a new instrument, I will also be on board with that! Read More

For students of all levels, I emphasize on building a solid foundation and technique. I stress on the importance of practicing the correct way using the least amount of time needed. With only a short period of training and adjustment, students and parents could witness drastic improvements and excellent results. For beginners, my main teaching material include pieces in the Suzuki workbook. However, I also emphasize on the importance of basic scale training. Read More

Assuming that the student is starting from scratch, I start by directing them how to hold the bow and explaining all the different parts of the bow and their purpose. I then move over to the violin and do the same. I first start with showing them a good bow hold as I feel like a proper bow hold is a very important key to making a great sound. I will also take the time to explain the role of the fingers and show how it is the foundation to all the bow technique they are going to learn. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, where I taught students on the campus at CW Post College. I have consistently taught students in my home studio for the last 15 years. I am very encouraging for the students to practice as a key point in becoming a great musician. I also emphasis this for the younger students, because it helps the student's progress and to gain a passion for his or her instrument. Read More

Each student develops at their own pace. To improve quickly, practice is very necessary. To improve slowly, lessons may be what guides your practice time. It is up to the student (and parent). I like to keep the pace moving, but repeat as much as necessary to build a firm foundation. I definitely work with the music that you are interested in and want to perform. I help you to understand how to overcome nervousness and how to feel comfortable performing in front of small or large crowds. Read More

I have taught a range of students from kids to teenagers to adults on violin, viola, piano, and drums. I have taught at churches, summer camps, colleges, student homes, and schools. I have taught a variety of genres, but classical music is certainly my forte. I currently teach at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, NY, where I also teach students after school as well, so I have a surplus of experience working with students of varying ages in a professional and nonprofessional environment. For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki Method while combining it with the Essential Elements Method. As the student learns the fundamentals I gradually add scales and exercises to further develop the student's technique. After further progress, I begin to introduce solo repertoire and add other pieces. I'm fairly flexible on what pieces the student may play in the lessons, as long as the rudiments and classic repertoire are covered. Read More
