My first teaching experience dates back to High School when I had the opportunity to coach elementary orchestra students. As a student at University of Colorado at Boulder and DePaul University, I completed String Pedagogy courses which covered all the different elements of teaching from how to manage a private studio to instructing your students. Currently, I teach a group of ten kindergartners at Skinner West Elementary School. This has been the most rewarding and challenging part of my teaching career thus far. Read More

My methods depend on my students' ages, experience, and instruments. I incorporate books from Full Voice, Suzuki, Schradiek, Piano Pronto, Bastien, and more! I ensure that my students are getting the essential education that will help them grow and succeed as a musician. In addition to teaching exercises, technic, warmups, scales, chords, arpeggios (and more), I also ensure that students are applying these things to pieces that are important to learn through lesson books and with songs that my students want to learn. Instruments: Violin Viola
I have been teaching children of all ages and performing around the world- most recently in Vienna, Austria- for over a decade. I also had the opportunity to work as a music director for a youth orchestra in Italy which improved my skill in orchestral direction as well as working with large ensembles. Teaching has always been my greatest passion mainly due to the great pedagogues that have guided and inspired me to pass on the invaluable knowledge and skill to future aspiring musicians. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
I have over 12 years of teaching orchestra at a high school level and over 20 years of private lesson teaching instruction. I know that everyone has enough "talent" to play a musical instrument; I provide the precise instruction on how to approach violin/viola in order to grow your talent. I am comfortable communicating with children just learning to play and very much enjoy teaching adult beginners also. My joy is watching the eyes of a student as they realize that they are playing music... and it wasn't really all the hard, after all. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Violin Acoustic Guitar
I have always enjoyed music and playing music and found it natural to play for my friends and family. And weather it was in school orchestra, garage band, or friends with guitars, I shared my knowledge with other players. The best part of teaching for me is when I introduce some new material and explain it and the light bulb goes off and the child gets that big eyed look, I see that the student understands it. For beginning students who are children ages 7 and up without parent support during home practice, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Violin
For my beginner students who are children, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and sometimes Lee W. Kikuchi's Musicianship for Strings. Scales and arpeggios follow shortly after. As the student progresses, I follow up with Harvey S. Whistler's Introducing the Positions (this book can also work with adults). Etude books such as Wohlfahrt and Kreutzer come into play when the student is ready. As far as repertiore, I use the first few Suzuki books and Barber's "Soloists for Young Violinists" for my younger students (the latter can also work with adults). Read More
