The first lesson is always partly an interview so I can understand exactly what the student's goals are. I typically establish good posture and breathing habits (or bowing and fingering, if violin) first and then move on to essential warm-up exercises. Those exercises then become their regular homework, to hopefully be practiced multiple times a week or if possible, every day. I began my teaching career in 2014. I was involved in a program where I worked under established teachers and observed them teach. I then took over their classes and received feedback and guidance from them. Since moving to Chicago in 2017, I have worked with a music school and taught private lessons as well as group lessons in Chicago Public Schools. I am a passionate and driven violinist who enjoys enriching the lives of others with the joy of music. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. I began performing with the Fox Valley Orchestra during my second year of university and continue to perform with them today.
