Music has been with me since the beginning - my Mother taught Ballet while she was pregnant with me, and at a few months old my parents played tapes of Beethoven, Bach, and Tchaikovsky. At age 3, I began music classes and have not stopped since then. My career as a musician started at the Rockford Music Academy, branching onto many orchestras and camps and wonderful performances. To name a few, I played in the Rockford Youth Symphony Orchestra throughout my high school years, attended the Music Academy of Rockford for 15 years, was selected to perform with The Piano Guys in 2016, and attended many years at Brian Wicklunds Fiddle Camp (my favorite style to play as youll come to know). I tailor the lessons to students' unique goals. No matter the age or experience, I try to have a continuous dialogue between the student and myself about their progress and what direction they'd like to head in to make sure they are engaging with material that suits their needs and goals at the same time. As long as we are working toward a common goal together, I'm happy to accommodate any particular goals a student may have, as long as we are still working toward proper technique and expressivity. For the past three years I have been teaching privately and in schools. I encourage my students to practice regularly and to focus on details as well as the big picture. With the understanding that playing the violin can be quite difficult, I find simplyfying complex ideas can acheive great results with no stress. To me, it is important that I meet each student exactly where they are at. Each student is unique and no two paths will be the same, so my instruction varies from student to student. Typically with the younger students, I do like to incorporate a lot of games, challenges, and rewards to help them find their motivation. For my older students, I encourage them by setting realistic goals and acknowledging their accomplishments, no matter how small. Read More
