Formal training began in junior high with the saxophone which continued through high school and my college years at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Through my music career so far, I have performed at various notable venues across the country such as The Viper Room (Los Angeles), Hotel Cafe (Los Angeles), Harvelle's - Long Beach (Long Beach), The Knitting Factory (Brooklyn), Uncommon Ground (Chicago), among many others. My music career started at the age five. I started small group piano lessons and theory classes. I continued lessons through elementary school and would perform at recitals. In the third grade I joined my school district's orchestra. My instrument of choice was the violin. I played in the orchestra until I graduated from elementary school and started private lessons in high school. My high school did not have an orchestra so I joined the concert band and started playing the flute. Read More

The approach, overall, is to drive toward the student's goal. When someone wants to learn how to play an instrument well enough to play in a band or orchestra, I usually consider two needs - playing music and interpreting written music. These are basic parts of education, literally easy to define by achieving pages in etude books.
