I am goofy kind of gal who is a kid at heart so, while I do not allow the students to goof-off during practice, I definitely encourage the children to have fun and take breaks. Learning a new skill is taxing on the brain so I do enjoy inserting some brain-breaks here and there, when necessary. I'm also a very big sticker advocate! My top priority in teaching violin is for my students to develop a love for music. This includes tailoring my teaching style dependent on the student's learning style. Typically, I like to begin my lessons with developing musical foundations (which includes scales, rhythm, and different bow and finger exercises). Then, I choose a piece that challenges the student in some artistic capacity. I teach students in either the Traditional method, or the Suzuki Method. I am also capable of doing a hybrid method catered to the students needs. If you aren't familiar with Suzuki Method it involves a lot of listening and singing in addition to playing the instrument.
