Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Saxophone Bassoon
I never settled on one instrument; continuously collecting new instruments throughout my childhood. I was always excited for a new technical challenge and to explore a new genre of music, and I have a unique relationship of each of the instruments I play. My teaching experience has been similar: I began teaching violin lessons 8 years ago, and I have since become a swimming instructor, theater/improv teacher and program director, and international ESL teacher. I began teaching general music 12 years ago by presenting 45-minute programs for ages 3 yrs-14 yrs at numerous public schools in the Greater Boston Area in partnership with From the Top. These presentations had a vast range of topics and activities. With a class of 4th graders, I helped the students express their daily routine by writing and performing their own piece of music. I had a discussion with a class of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders about the story behind a Bach Sonata I performed at the beginning of the class. Read More

In my lessons, I balance technique with musicality; though learning the violin requires discipline, I maintain a comfortable, friendly atmosphere while pushing pupils to achieve results. As a teacher I prioritize inspiration while providing structure for growth and flexibility to accommodate individual needs. This means setting realistic goals, regular practice routines, and acknowledging accomplishments, preferably in a recital or performance. I try to pass on my own passion for music while nurturing my students' interests in a safe environment that cultivates growth and progress. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin
I believe that each student's success - no matter how big or small, needs to be celebrated and encouraged. Acknowledging a student's efforts is vital for their own motivation to continue to work hard, and it is such a heart warming and rewarding feeling to see a student grasp a concept that they were once struggling with. It is very important to me to learn each student's personal goals and objectives, and to plan my instruction based on what that student is after. Read More
Instruments: Violin
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a basic book like Fiddle Magic by Sally O'Reilly. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will move on to the Suzuki Books. Along with teaching from the Suzuki Book, I will supplement their learning with an etude book such as Wohlfahrt and Kreutzer. After a certain point, I will start working on pieces and concertos not in the Suzuki books anymore. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method. I introduce the student to basic instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, whether it be violin or piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
