I have had a passion since I was 6 years old for music, I recieved B.S in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Central Michigan University and an Associates in Dance from University of Michigan. I teach beginning students both by rote and through reading. We use standard Suzuki books for repertoire and method books such as Wohlfahrt, Mazaz, and Sevcik. Very young students begin on Sassmanshaus since it is very engaging as well as well written. Beginning violin is important. I use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to help teach the functionality and basic building blocks of playing the violin. Moving forward, the best introduction into violin music itself is the Suzuki Violin School volume set. Each book helps students through various levels during their beginner phase. These pieces not only serve as educational material but also as solo repertoire for beginners in recitals. Having been a product of a school orchestra myself, I will use a more traditional teaching approach.
