Since then, I have studied with several teachers of the New Jersey Symphony as well as graduates of the Juliard School in New York. My teaching style can best be described as flexible. I like to tailor every lesson to each individual student based on their needs and interests. For younger and newer students regardless of age, I like to focus primarily on fundamentals such as developing proper posture, becoming comfortable with the instrument, tuning and producing sound. For beginner students, I start with instrumental mechanics and very approachable ear training. We will listen to various styles of music in order to see the natural inclination and joy that the student possesses. From there, we will take our time developing good habits while learning music that the student finds fun and satisfying. I began studying the recorder in Israel at the age of five. Keenly interested in music, I embarked on my lifelong love of the violin at age seven when I began violin studies with Leon Asa. After emigrating to the United States in 1958, I continued my early violin studies with the late Emily Cleve Gregerson of Omaha, Nebraska. In 1967, while an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I was accepted as an advanced violin student by Elliot Golub, who was at the time a member of the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago under Ralph Shapey, and a founder of the acclaimed Music of the Baroque series in Chicago. I like to make learning an instrument an enjoyable experience and allow students to progress at their own pace.  I also introduce them to different styles of music such as classical, folk, Broadway musicals as well as popular songs.  In addition, I teach students new skills and techniques to enhance their playing abilities.
