I have extensive experience in the traditions of Joseph Joachim, Jascha Brodsky, Ivan Galamian, and Dorothy DeLay. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance studying under renowned violinist Alice Schoenfeld. After high school I became a marching band coach for 3 years assisting in teaching various sections and leadership positions. I want to figure out what inspires a student. We will hone in on personal goals and use that as a basis for instruction. Motivation is key! I typically use a style of traditional classical instruction. Including scales, studies, and repertoire. I teach sight reading and ear training. I use memorization, and critical listening skills. I can teach from the beginning levels all the way up to concert playing. I can also teach other genres of music if the student desires. Read More

I began teaching piano and violin lessons 15 years ago and have been consistently teaching ever since. Encouraging daily practice, and helping the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument is one of the key points. While enjoyment is the number one rule, following their development and progress with certain method books are really important. My teaching style is more relaxed and less strict than other teachers, especially for beginner students, though I do emphasize the importance of consistent practice and listening. I believe that not only practicing, but also listening to what you are practicing, especially, pieces is very important for the development of the musical ear. When teaching, I like to have the student practice and play many examples from the book that is being used, especially if they are short examples. Read More

I have been brought up with the Suzuki method of learning and recently I completed my Suzuki Teacher-Training in books 1-8. I find this method to instill the very best habits in students of all ages. The learning process for a young child is best when a parent is learning with the student. I cannot begin to stress how much more the student gets out the lesson when the parent is involved in the process in an integrated way. Read More
