Instruments: Violin
I like to tailor my teaching methods to each individual student. I know from taking lessons myself that no two violinist are alike, and it would be silly to teach as if they were. For my younger students, I really like to focus on the fundamentals of violin technique so that they can have a firm foundation on which they can improve. I also try to include music theory and music history into my lessons so that a student leaves each lesson not only as a better violinist, but as a better overall musician. Read More

Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola Music Keyboard
Post Baccalaureate Educator looking to provide guidance to musicians on their great musical journey. My degree is in Violin and Piano Performance. I studied with professors that graduated from Eastman, Manhattan, Michigan, Boston, and Curtis among many others. Ive always been interested in discovering the many ways one could teach an instrument. After learning piano from the age of 5 I started violin around 10 years old. I come from a family of non-musicians so my situation was quite special in the way I pursued music without the influence of family or friends. Read More

I'm a very encouraging, dedicated, passionate, and motivated instructor who loves working with any students and sharing my love of music. I'm originally from South Korea, I can speak both English and Korean fluently. Currently, I'm a student of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Major. Performing and working with many people has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had a opportunity to play with Texas State Symphony Orchestra as a pianist. Instruments: Violin Cello Viola Double Bass
I found myself wanting to teach students, of all ages- anyone that had a desire to learn the cello. With regard to my private studio, I teach using the traditional method. I believe every student needs a foundation of classical music. If a student wishes to learn other genres, I am happy to support those interests as well. I teach music primarily through reading. I incorporate some ear training. I also teach music theory and music history within a given lesson, because it is my believe that theory and history assist students in having a greater understanding of why they are performing what they are and how to interpret the work. Instruments: Piano Violin Drums
The following are books that I start my lessons with. In addition, I supplement with materials that my students are interested in learning. If there is a particular song or style that they would like to learn(and is reasonably within their ability level or I am able to modify), I work to teach it to them. Drums: ***The book chosen depends on a student's level and personal goals, but these are great books to start with: Drumset For Preschoolers by Andy Ziker(for students ages 2-6, or students that would benefit from a color-coded system initially) The Drumset Musician By Rod Morgenstein and Rick Mattingly(great for beginning drum beats!) Alfred's Drum Method(for learning rhythms and rudiments) A Fresh Approach to the Drumset by Mark Wessels with Stanton Moore(teaches an intro to a variety of styles, including rock, samba, jazz, etc.) Piano: Alfred's All-in-One Course This book has simple, child-centered lessons that are reasonably paced, teaches beginning music theory, and allows students the opportunity to write. Instruments: Violin Viola Recorder Fiddle
For beginning students, I start by teaching them how to hold the instrument. Violinists and violists would learn how to pluck, and a beginning recorder student would learn how to blow air correctly into the instrument. I also teach all students correct left hand position. If students do not know how to read music, I teach them how to read the notes using words and phrases they would remember (ex. Read More
