For beginning students, I always start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I've found this book to be the best at introducing the instrument and reading the music. I may or may not continue teaching out of the books (there's 3), but that depends on the student. By book 2 or 3 I usually begin introducing Suzuki, as there are many solo pieces for them. Suzuki is also great for teaching technique, which is essential to their skill-set. Read More

Also while studying with Kato Havas , I learned her method to manage the stage fright for string players. Among of many important teachers both in US and Italy I have studied with Giusto Cappone (left), the legendary principal violist of the Berliner Philharmoniker during the golden era of Herbert Von Karajan, and the world famous DGG recordings. I also studied at the Juilliard School with Karen Tuttle, William Primrose's assistant, and William Lincer, former principal violist of the New York Philharmonic. Read More

While I have taught violin lessons since 2010, my most recent passion for teaching occurred when I became an Adjunct Professor of Violin at New York University from 2016-2018. I held this position for two years while I was simultaneously completing my Masters degree, and maintained a studio of 10 students each semester. While at NYU, I taught a variety of students, from complete beginners to advanced violin players. Outside of NYU, I have also gained experience privately teaching younger students, and I am a Suzuki certified teacher. Read More

My teaching style is very patient and encouraging and I can tailor my lesson plans to suit each individual student. Although building technique and comfort are extremely important, I find that the most essential aspect of learning an instrument is to study the music that you love, and I'm definitely open to adding a bit of musical theory to every lesson if the student is interested. While the student is learning the basics, I also add pieces in different genres to the student's repertoire so that he or she can develop early familiarity with a variety of styles. Read More

As a strong believer of the KIPP mission and vision, I work hard to instill the truths spoken to me behind the process of getting to and through college, constantly reminded by the words of Marianne Williamson that “our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.” There are 2 things that I believe in regards to education: 1) All students can/will learn. 2) It is not whether or not you are smart, but rather HOW you are smart, citing Gardner's Theory of Intelligence. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

For beginner students, i typically like to work with the tried and true Suzuki books, as well as theory practice with Essential Elements for violin, and the Faber books for pianists. I will begin to introduce solo work as skills build, but we will always be working on something that the student genuinely is interested in. For adults/ intermediate or advanced students i try to find what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons fun and engaging while also slightly challenging to further understanding of technical abilities.
