My teaching style is that I provide a structured environment with very clear expectations and a calm, supportive atmosphere. Within this structure there is plenty of room to expand and explore, myself having developed creative music styles from strict classical to rock improvisation. From an idyllic afternoon in the sun by the shore to an adventure on the high seas, a music studio is the place! The ticket to this magical place? Read More

Music should not be boring or intimidating, so I teach to my students' personalities and their comfort levels. I will ask my students to try rigorous exercizes but I will do so in a manner that is fun and rewarding, not exhausting. I enjoy adding humor to my lessons and I like to keep the mood light and conversational because music is as much about connection and communication as it is about notes. Read More

I believe the student is there to find a passion. It is so important to find love for the art, and this is what I try to provide. A lead-by-example approach is the core of what I do. I "draw" the student toward their own voice. It is imperative to help them find their own "style." The greatest musicians are true originals; and so I do not encourage my students to follow in my footsteps, but to blaze their own trails. Read More

I'm a voice and violin teacher who loves teaching music! I especially like working with children. In 2012, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Music. I also studied at Mannes Pre-college in Manhattan, New York from 2003 to 2008. I've had the opportunity to work with some of the best vocalists in the music industry, including the group "Soul for Real." I've also worked with numerous producers of Mary J. Read More

I will vary my methods based on the individual student. For students between 3 and 7, I will use the Suzuki method, which in my experience is best for students of that age. For beginners after that, I will use method books and repertoire that not only addresses the students technical and musical development at that point in time, but is also fun and enjoyable to play. I encourage students to play in their school or community orchestra and will assist and encourage students to play in chamber ensembles. Read More

I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

My teaching style is very friendly and I have a great passion for teaching! I also like to guide my students on how to refine their playings by themselves and encourage them to form their own thoughts on the music, and I believe the ability to resolve problems without outside help is crucial not only in the music realm but also in real life, so it is a good place to train that skill too!
