I received my BA in violin performance from the University of Colorado at Denver and also attended UNC where I received a viola scholarship. I play both the violin and viola, having the violin as my primary instrument. I have extensive experience in classical (art music), folk, opera, spiritual and new age styles. For beginning students on violin we start with many techniques found in the Suzuki method. From there, we jump into different styles of music while still focusing on developing solid technical foundations for the student. Once we move into standard repertoire the lessons begin to change based on what the student needs. I am a firm believer in consistent practice. I always explore different methods that might fit the age and personality of the student but for keyboard lessons I have found success with the Alfred Piano Method. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. Beyond that I have a large library of supplementary music to expand the students interest with new styles and composers.I'm very flexible with the method books and after I get to know the student I can select a method that would work the best for instruction.
