I take aspects of different methods and combine them with my own to create a opportunity for the student to explore and experiment with their music, with out developing bad habits. I like to use the Suzuki books as a basis solely for musical progression, but technical set up is catered to differently for each student. The violin is not a naturally held instrument, and not everyone's body is the same, therefore I work with each student individually to find the right set up for their body. Read More

Viola Soloist in the Youth Orchestra of Caracas (One of the most Important Youth Orchestra in Venezuela), in which he held international tours. At the same time he was developing as viola instructor for the Simon Bolivar Conservatory. Hector Vásquez has served as a teacher in the system for many years, which is why he knows closely the vision of Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu, founder, and the transforming action of music in the lives of children and youth in the areas underprivileged. I am a positive, patient and constructive teacher.  I give my students 100% of my attention during their lessons.  I work with students to develop correct posture and positions, strong technique, ability to read music, include music theory and music history as appropriate and work with students to play with musicality and develop their own passion for music.  I work with students at their own pace and where the students are at. I like to be encouraging and positive in lessons! I also like to maintain a certain standard :)! I think developing consistency in practice even if it starts at 15 mins a day is key to success. There is a lot of muscle memory and training involve and it requires consistency. I do my best to set realistic and clear weekly goals for each student and encourage them along the way! I find if one is consistent with practice, usually within a semester (6 months) or earlier, one can play their first song and feel comfortable to perform in public within 1 years time! Read More

I like to have a consistent plan for all of my lessons, so that students know what to expect, as well as the best methods for practicing. I always start my students off with a warm-up consisting of scales or a technical exercise that relates to the piece that we are working on. I then go over the "trouble spots" of a piece with the student before diving into longer sections. Read More

In all of my teaching, I combine my students' interests with the leading pedagogy practices in string education to develop the foundational skills of the instrument as well as a fondness for it. There are several method books that I use such as Suzuki, Schroeder's Cello Etudes, and Fiddler's Philharmonic, however, I tailor each lesson path to each student based on student interest as well as proper sequencing. I generally start with these method books, especially for cello, for beginning students. Read More
