2019 Violin section in the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra

Overview:
I am a professional violinist and violin instructor. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the Universidad de Chile, an Artist Diploma Program, and a Master's degree in Music Performance, both from Duquesne University. I started my career in music when I was 13, and I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to playing and teaching music. In 2019 I moved from Chile to the United States, more specifically to Pittsburgh because I wanted to grow my knowledge in music and I started a graduate program at Duquesne University.
EXPERIENCE
I have plenty of experience teaching, and playing in orchestras. I have been teaching for over 8 years and I have experience teaching in different settings, group classes, and one-on-one private lessons. I am a certified Suzuki violin teacher by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have experience working with children starting at 3 years old, teenagers, and adult people. As I said before, I also play in Orchestras: I am part of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and the Butler County Symphony Orchestra. We play once a month during orchestra season, and it is one of the activities I enjoy the most along with teaching violin.
METHODS USED
As I said before in my experience, I am a certified Suzuki violin teacher by the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and it is for that reason I principally use the Suzuki Methodology. However, I know every student is different. It is for that reason that I apply differently to each of them. I encourage my students to work toward different goals that we set up in the beginning of their lessons. The way I help them set their goals is based on their needs. If the student has some experience, we do a little review and we start working from there, fixing problems in the technique first, and growing from there. Each student has a personalized plan and new assignments for each upcoming lesson.
LESSON STYLE
There is nothing more gratifying for me than seeing my students grow on their instruments, develop knowledge, and improve the way they play the violin. I try to encourage them as much as possible, and I try to make them feel committed to the practice of the instrument as a fun activity for them. I set realistic goals for the short and long term, based on their needs, that way they can accomplish those goals and see progress. When students notice their improvement, they are more eager to learn more and improve more aspects of their technique.

Translated from Spanish to English: I was a student of Professor Katherine from 2016 to 2019 at the Enrique Soro School of Music. With her I learned all i know about the violin in a very dynamic and disciplined way. She has a lot of patience and dedication with her students. In addition, she motivated us to be better every day and to take on complex challenges. She helped me to play in an orchestra and acquire techniques that to this day serve me to study my instrument in all kinds of musical pieces. She is a great professional and a wonderful person.

I had a great experience being kathy's pupil she really puts the best of herself to explain in the best way possible part of her knowledge playing violin, I personally think that violin is quite hard to learn, but having kathy as my teacher gave me the motivation to not leave it in my first year. totally recommended

I studied with Kathy for about 2 years, she is a very dedicated and committed teacher. We got a good confidence in her classes so it was very good to learn with her. She always had time to help me with some questions and she answered them immediately, she sent me audios or videos so that I could practice the parts of the issues that were difficult for me.
