2015 Full scholarship at Universidad de Chile
2019 Full scholarship at Duquesne University
I am a professional violinist and teacher, a very organized person, I love to teach and to play the violin, It is my passion since I am 9. In 2017 I got my Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance, Violin at the Universidad de Chile, and in 2019 I got accepted into an Artist diploma program in Music Performance, violin at Duquesne University. I am a current graduate student there and I will earn my certificate in May 2021. I am very friendly. I have plenty of experience playing in orchestra and teaching violin. I love to play in an orchestra.
I am a professional teacher with plenty of experience, I started teaching violin in 2014 in a public school, after that, I got another job teaching violin to children ages 5 to up in a private school (2015). I started to teach next year (2016) in the Enrique Soro Music School, all these jobs were in Santiago, Chile. I have had private students also. I have experience with children ages 5 to up, teenagers, and adult people. I have experience also working in individual lessons and also in group lessons. I love to work with students because I like to see their process and progress. It is very important for me to keep the motivation of each student, and give them reasons to practice their instruments and to do not make it a stressful homework.
I use the Suzuki method mixed with my own methodology, I use for sure the Suzuki books, and I use also a book called "Fiddle Time Joggers". It is special for very young children, and I paint the notes of this book to teach my younger students what string they need to play. I try always to explain in the best possible way my knowledge and the topic to my students, and I like to be available for them all the time. I teach my students to enjoy the daily practice activity and to see this like a game, not an obligation. I know how to explain the topics, and from that, I develop the class depending also on the age of the student. If the student is older, or a teenager I encourage them to think.
For me, my teaching style is very organized, I teach in a very systematic order the different topics to learn from the beginning, and if the student has some knowledge, I start from there, fixing first bad habits. I sing with my students, and I am also very engaged with my students. I am a very friendly teacher and very detailed with my students, I try to give my best always in my lessons, and I encourage my students to do the same, put effort and love into the instrument, and do not be afraid of it. It must be something students should enjoy!
I studied with Kathy for about 2 years, she is a very dedicated and committed teacher. We got a good confidence in her classes so it was very good to learn with her. She always had time to help me with some questions and she answered them immediately, she sent me audios or videos so that I could practice the parts of the issues that were difficult for me.
I had a great experience being kathy's pupil she really puts the best of herself to explain in the best way possible part of her knowledge playing violin, I personally think that violin is quite hard to learn, but having kathy as my teacher gave me the motivation to not leave it in my first year. totally recommended
Translated from Spanish to English: I was a student of Professor Katherine from 2016 to 2019 at the Enrique Soro School of Music. With her I learned all i know about the violin in a very dynamic and disciplined way. She has a lot of patience and dedication with her students. In addition, she motivated us to be better every day and to take on complex challenges. She helped me to play in an orchestra and acquire techniques that to this day serve me to study my instrument in all kinds of musical pieces. She is a great professional and a wonderful person.
She is fantastic teacher with unique teaching method and a very close person and friendly.
I have a child who is 10, he really has improved a lot with Mrs. Kathy , who is a great teacher , giving my child a lot of confidence to play the violin, I highly recommend Mrs. Kathy as a violin teacher.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
