I began playing cello in elementary school and started teaching cello lessons while I was in middle school. I love to teach and share music with my students. My teaching experience is quite varied. I've taught young children as a member of Mimi Zweig's pedagogy classes, and I currently teach group classes to 3rd-5th graders here in NYC. I've taught chamber music to teenagers in Indiana University's Summer String Academy and to adult learners in Montreal. I encourage regular practice and strong fundamentals, but I also sincerely think that although there are many ways to teach and to learn, the best ways always are enjoyable. Read More

Children who study with me don't just learn how to 'play' the music, they learn how to really 'PERFORM' it--wide range of volume, lots of expression, and true musicality! Teens (13-18) typically prefer to choose their own curriculum. They are mature enough to appreciate a classical background, and we study the great composers and all their famous pieces, which inform their understanding of music history as well. Violinists and violists are often taught according to a traditional teaching method that is too rigid and outdated. In contrast, I design my lessons to fit each of my students' individual artistic goals, and encourage students to ask questions.
