For beginner piano students, I have found the Faber Piano Adventures books to be quite successful. For other lessons, I try to tailor them to each student and find materials that fit with their unique music goals. I have drawn from a variety of music resources, as well as my own knowledge, to help students learn through their own unique way of thinking. I believe it is important to build off of the skills that students already have, and to find ways to support them as they grow in other areas. Read More

For the past three years, I have been mentoring the string players in BYSO's ensembles and helping them to develop effective rehearsal techniques. Read More

The dynamics of the class we make between the student and me. Of course, I lead the class, but the questions are very important. Read More

After all, learning is a journey and what we learn along the way is always the most rewarding. While it is not possible to predict the outcome, it is possible to make that journey an enjoyable, inspiring, and rewarding one no matter the final result. A few years ago I came across a notable description about why one would teach music in the first place (source unknown). Among many other reasons, such as "because it is science, mathematics, language, history, art that creates human feelings and emotion" the most important of them was, "So we become more human.
