I am here for YOU, the students. The students make teaching music the best thing in all the world. It is what I love to do. Because of my years of experiences with having many different teachers teach me different training techniques, I have developed incredible, worthwhile, effective, and incredible techniques, methods, and skills with building your bow hold, left hand, bow arm, shifting, vibrato, and more that will help students improve in a matter of weeks, instead of months. My methods fall into 4 categories: 1) Essential Technique- Students will learn the basics from the Essential Elements books, Etude books such as Wolfahrt and Dont, and customized materials 2) Music Theory and History- Students will learn note reading, key signatures, scales and arpeggios, intervals, rhythm and music history through customized materials and games 3) Solo- Students will choose solos from the Suzuki violin/viola series, or another skill-appropriate solo 4) Ensemble- Once the student has basic familiarity with his or her instrument, I will find them an appropriate ensemble opportunity such as youth orchestra, All-County/All-State Orchestra, adult community orchestra or chamber music Read More

Turning any instrument from an uncomfortable, difficult task to fun and enjoyable part of a student's life is my number one priority! To ensure a full and successful development of a student, I typically spend as much time focusing on longevity as I do on learning how to play the instrument itself. I do this by making sure common tension points are relaxed and not overstressed especially after long playing sessions. Read More

I am an extremely motivated and passionate teacher whose main focus is for the student to have fun playing a string instrument. My goal is to instill music in the hearts of many people while training them for the skills necessary to produce such music. I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2010 and have been teaching in public schools for 5 years. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method and playing by ear. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire on sheet music appropriate for their level of performance. It is important to stress the fundamentals of technique for my beginner students before just playing music. I like to incorporate music theory within their lessons, so not only are they able to hear a piece of music and can start playing but can also read sheet music that is put in front of them. Read More

I like to begin the first lesson by recognizing the students strengths by having them show me what they can accomplish on their own. There are specific books that I like to teach out of depending on the skill level so that needs to be addressed during the first lesson. Recognizing and building on strengths to me should come before criticising weaknesses. Those will be addressed as they come along and exercises with scales and etudes will be chosen for those weaknesses, but that does not mean that challenging music needs to be played each and every time so that the student has to struggle for greatness.
