Once the students made progression in basic fundamentals, I use the Suzuki Methods Books and Solo for Young Violinists by Barbara Barber. Along with that, I introduce the students to the chamber music so that the students learn to play with others. When receiving a student I first like to get to know the student by friending them. Asking question as to what their likes are and just getting to know them. However, I have found that the best way to engage students and maintain progress is not to keep too strictly to any one method, but to find what best suits each individual.
