Jerry is the principal trumpet with the Chamber Orchestra of New York and a member of Alia Music Pittsburgh and Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra. Jerry has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra,, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, and others. Internationally, he has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Point Chamber Orchestra, and attended the Opera and Music Festival of Lucca. My students describe me as enthusiastic and passionate to an infectious degree! I bring lots of energy to lessons and make learning fun and easy. While I am highly critical in a constructive sense, I have never become harsh with a student. I teach with a great sense of compassion and duty in helping the student achieve their highest potential. Although we will primarily work in areas of weakness, I also like to help my students learn how to play on their own strengths so they can develop the confidence for positive performance experiences. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, especially for brass instruments. I also tend to mix in some fun songs that are more well known using my own arrangements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I began teaching private students while in college through a music store in Ellicott City, MD. I taught students from age 6 to 15. I had up to 15 students on varied occasions. I maintained students on and off throughout my 7 years of music teaching in public schools following graduating from college, but lost many students when I relocated from Baltimore to Lancaster.
