I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory. We will extensively on flexibility and scales through out all stages of development as well as intonation on the instrument. For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements as well as my own individual exercises written specifically for each student's needs as they develop. After they have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and etudes for their first recital performance. After graduating college, I was the resident trumpet at the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia, before completing three contracts as a show band musician on board Celebrity Cruise ships. I have toured Europe with my university's top jazz ensemble, as well as toured the United States with two different professional drum corps, Carolina Crown and Jersey Surf. I have taught at summer camps and after school programs, and I just love to share my love of music with others. Read More
