I am a professional trumpet player and educator. I am currently an adjunct professor at Richard Stockton University in New Jersey where I teach trumpet and coach a small jazz ensemble. I also teach many students privately out of my home studio. I have a very busy performing schedule currently and have been fortunate enough to perform all over the world with my own group as well as many other artists as diverse as Lou Rawls and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. With over 20 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to learn from many different teachers and perform in many great locations. I have been a student of local Philadelphia musicians like Eric Apelt, Al Rochlin and Bill Whitaker. In my college career I was fortunate to have instructors like Dr. Ted DiSanti and former ITG President Dr. Kevin Eisensmith. As a performer I have been a member of many different bands such as Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Trumpet Ensembles, Quintet/Quartets, Pit Orchestra, Wedding Bands and have performed solo. Read More

Hello! My name is Eric, and I'm a multi-instrumentalist with the deepest history on trumpet. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, taking private lessons that I continued through high school with several wonderful teachers. I began playing in ensembles at the age of 9. I began playing the bass at 15, drums at 17, and guitar at 19. I now perform on all instruments. I've been a part of the Philadelphia-based band Snacktime since 2020 and we've traveled the country together and played some legendary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, Irving Plaza in NYC, and were the house band for Jason Kelce's "They Call It Late Night" on ESPN. Lessons are tailored to each individual. My teaching methods include a warm-up routine, scales, and etudes or songs from various method books, depending on the skill level of the student. Standard repertoire in classical and jazz studies is also covered. Sight-reading, improvisation, and ear-training are also a part of most lessons. Material that is time-sensitive for the student, such as school music (band/orchestra) as well as seating test/audition music is given top priority. Read More

I enjoy teaching private lessons and helping students discover their niche and their full potential. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree (magna cum laude). I've performed as lead/solo trumpet with the Blue Lake International Jazz Orchestra on their month-long tour of Europe in 2010. I have performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and many smaller ensembles. I'm currently pursuing my Master of Music in trumpet performance at Temple University and am studying with David Bilger, principal trumpet of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Read More

Instruments: Trumpet

I aim to teach my students the difference between "playing the trumpet" and "making music" and how this distinction is applied to practice. "Playing the trumpet" is a physically demanding task that requires diligent, often tedious practice to become skilled at. "Making music", on the other hand, can be done by anyone at any skill level and is lots of fun. The goal of practicing the trumpet is to become so familiar with the instrument that it becomes an extension of our body and mind, as effortless and automatic to perform as breathing or walking. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
