I also volunteered with the Seattle Music Partners where we went into schools that lost their music program and we taught students after school as their only means of connection to this art in schools. I am a passionate elementary school music educator who can "technically" play most instruments but trumpet was first in my heart when started playing it in 4th grade! I continued with it growing up and all the way through college where I graduated with a bachelor of science in music education K-12. I am currently in my 7th year of teaching elementary general music, chorus, beginner band. At Yale, I became a Teaching Artist in 2015 and gave private lessons to Yale Undergraduate students. I try to strike a balance between encouraging enjoyment and inspiring the desire to work hard. It's important to me that my students set ambitious and realistic goals, taking care not to burn out and always to enjoy what they are doing. While playing music means something different for everybody, excellence is something that everybody is capable of. I don't believe in talent to the extent most people do. While some people might start out with a little bit more, hard work beats talent by multitudes. Read More
