Students will instill a passion for music, or further this passion! It is important to note that students will progress at their own pace. There is no deadline for when students reach a goal. It is important to see how a student reached their individual goals as opposed to how long it took to reach them. Quality is greater than quantity. I will aid students in setting realistic goals, which will inspire students to progress in their learning. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my mid-high school days, where I would teach elementary and junior high students brass technique in one-on-one settings, help teach my junior high jazz band, and teach a combo that I put together myself. As time went on, I gradually built up my studio to a part-time gig in college. During summers in college, I would teach various marching band camps and work as the RA at a jazz camp. Read More

I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for beginners. Once you progress with the basics, we move on to trumpet repertoire, whether trumpet solos or duets. For older students, we will begin with trumpet repertoire while combining it with songs that you like to listen to. We might also work on some transcribing whether it is a jazz tune or your favorite French horn solo - ear training is key to a great brass player. Read More

I am a passionate elementary school music educator who can "technically" play most instruments but trumpet was first in my heart when started playing it in 4th grade! I continued with it growing up and all the way through college where I graduated with a bachelor of science in music education K-12. I am currently in my 7th year of teaching elementary general music, chorus, beginner band. I love working with elementary students during their group lessons for band, however, I also enjoy working on higher level trumpet material for middle or high school students who want to prepare for auditions or improve their playing throughout school or their personal music journey! The influences behind a piece of music, what it sounds like - these are keys to learning history, science, and more about human nature. I feel that knowledge of music leads to knowledge of the world.
