I have been teaching private lessons at Northside Christian School for almost 2 full years at this point, and have been helping out during marching band season every year since 2017. During the first part of 2021, I have also substituted for jazz instructor during the school year of Tarpon Springs High School, and while there I have taught more students on jazz improvisation as well as fundamentals on the trombone. My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. My teaching method is a simple stacking method we start with a lesson, I try to find where the student may struggle most and spend time with that. Then we move forward, but revisit the lesson prior for continuity. Once they understand how it make sounds, we slow work on refining and controlling so we can actually learn to play! Older and more experienced students will learn how to make Music, not just playing the notes on the page.
